Yzma

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Yzma is available as a foster to adopt. Please apply to adopt if interested!

Gender: Female
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Age: Est DOB: 11/2020
Weight: TBA
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Yzma is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart. She is working on her trust and confidence and is hoping to find a patient family of her very own soon!

A Note from the Foster: Meet Yzma! This 7lb beauty is putting her breeding days behind her, and looking for a forever home to spend the rest of her days with.

Yzma came to us scared and withdrawn. When we gave her attention she would temble and bury her face in a blanket, making very little eye contact with us. Given some time and patience, not pushing her to connect too quickly, she has really made progress. Although she still appreciates breaks away from the other humans and pets in her home...to recharge in her playpen, she now allows us to cuddle with her on our lap for hours a day. She doesn't prefer just one person, she is happy to be held by anyone. For now she's most comforable sitting with her comfort human observing what's going on around the room, rather than partaking in the playful fun that is natural in a home with kids/cats/dogs. If you're looking for a calm, quiet lap dog who loves to have her face and back rubbed while on your lap, this is the dog for you!

Yzma is very comfortable in both her playpen during the day, and her crate at night. She sleeps through the night without making a sound. She naps in her playpen during the day happily and is a very easy dog to leave home alone in this fashion for several hours of the day. She has not shown any type of separation anxiety or fear of being along. She has shown no agressive behavior.

She doesn't quite know what to do with the outdoors, and seems to be unfamiliar with grass. She is not leash trained at the moment. She won't even try to walk on a leash, as she seems very frightened. She is much happier indoors. She has not gone to the bathroom outdoors for us yet, but has only ever gone on the potty pad in her playpen (no overnight accidents in the crate) so she seems to be partially house trained in that regard.

She is interested in our cats, and never barks at them. She enjoys our other foster puppy when the puppy is calm and quiet...the two will snuggle together. But when the puppy is being extra loud and energetic she tends to growl at her to let her know to keep her distance shen she's being too much for her to handle. We think Yzma would be good in a home with older/calmer/quieter pets, and would be a great only pet as well. She has been absolutely wonderful with our 3 older teens/tweens.

Overall, Yzma would be a great fit for a family who wants a pup who loves to cuddle and who tends to keep the enviroment calm and peaceful. Adoptive families should be willing to be patient with her as she comes out of her shell. She is eager and ready to meet her forever family!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
