History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Violet - affectionately nicknamed “Hippo” by our 11-year-old - is a sweet and gentle 8-year-old momma dog. She’s incredibly adaptable: perfectly happy snoozing the day away or joining in for a more active routine of playtime or neighborhood walks. Although crate trained, she usually prefers curling up on the floor and is content napping in the common areas of our home. Violet is wonderfully patient with children, including our son and younger visitors, and she gets along well with other dogs - even ours, who can be a bit selective with new friends. One of Violet’s quirks is how deeply she sleeps - once she settles in for the night, it often takes a good shake to convince her to go outside! She’s also quite the conversationalist, mumbling and trilling when she wants something, and she can be adorably persistent. On walks, she’s very focused and relaxed - calm and unfazed by other animals. In our pitty-loving family, she’s perfect.
Adoption Fee: $510 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
