History: Solene is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart. She is working on her trust and confidence and is hoping to find a patient family of her very own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Sunny (Solene) is the silliest wiggly piggy who is ready to cuddle up next to you! You wouldn't believe that she came from a commercial breeder since she loves getting ear scratches, sleeps through the night in her crate, goes to the bathroom outside, warms up to you pretty fast, and is so curious. Her only accidents in the house have been when we haven't let her out fast enough in the morning. You'll know she needs to go (around 7am) when she starts fussing and talking.
When we first met, Sunny was very scared of us and our resident foster (who was vocal about not wanting a foster sibling), shaking and growling for the first hour. After Sunny realized her "tough dog" act of growling didn't work with us or any of the many people she has met, she gladly accepted pets and attention in as fast as 5 minutes. Sunny is a bit more hesitant of men but has realized that they're not so bad - she even happily follows her foster dad around sometimes and will curl up in the lap of some men after a little time. You know you're her friend when she booty bumps you - our friend's 8 year old daughter received the fastest booty bump after meeting her for just 30 minutes!
Sunny doesn't realize her 18 lb long tanky body and little legs aren't built for leaping up our wood stairs as that does not deter her from trying to copy her foster sister. She's also learned how to play with toys, trot nicely next to us on a walk, and that you're more likely to get pets if you're sitting and not performing a circus act. In the couple days she's been with us, she's picking up crate training really fast! Sunny is in a gated area in my office with her crate during the work day. My partner is able to let her out during lunch for a bathroom break as he works from home, but she spends most of the work day in the gated area, not receiving attention. I think she would be able to work up to being home completely by herself if you work in-office. She may cry for a little sometimes but will eventually settle and nap in her crate.
If you're looking for a happy girl who snorts like a pug but doesn't have nasal issues, doesn't need a yard, is pooped after walking down 2 blocks and back, doesn't shed, is fine being the only dog or having a sibling, and ready to be your best friend, Sunny is the girl for you!
Adoption Fee: $560 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
