History: Rufus is a handsome little fella who arrived to rescue recently and immediately warmed our hearts. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home and hopes to find them soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi! I’m Rufus. I am a 20lb Cavapoo. I’m an absolute ladies man.. and when I say ladies, I really mean one lady.. my foster mom. I protect her from dogs on tv, my 11 y/o human brother and anyone else who comes near her. I’m all bark and no bite... I’m actually a little scared (and shy) but have to act tough.
I am getting used to my foster dog sister who is 60lbs of fluff. I’m learning my boundaries with her and we get along pretty well. I’m entirely uninterested in my foster cat brother.
Potty training is pretty easy.. I am very focused when we go out. Ive also had very few accidents. I do have to sleep in my kennel at night (in mom’s room) and it’s my least favorite. I just want to be by my mom so I whine until I realize she’s not letting me out until morning. (Or if she sees I actually need something). She let me out once and realized I’m not as good with my potty training skills when she’s sleeping and not paying attention.
I would be the best boy in a quiet house. I get scared easy and don’t like loud noises. I also shouldn’t share walls with someone that isn’t in my family. I like to alert everyone by barking that I’d rather not be in the crate. My foster mom is home all day with me and I do so much better when she’s here. If you’re home during the day, I will be your best friend.
From my foster mom: Rufus is loyal, very smart and curious, but easily startled and retreats to my room or his kennel when he is scared. He will require patience as he continues to gain confidence. I think he’d thrive with either a single person or retired couple who can be home with him during the day.
Adoption Fee: $760 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
