History: Rufus is a super handsome boy who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with his smile and happy personality. He has his paws crossed to find his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Sweet Rufus has been in our home for a short time now and he's showing so much progress in becoming a true pup. He came to us full of mats and almost double his true size because of it. After my removing much of the mats over 3 days, he got professional grooming and has become his true, handsome self. This gentle, soft pup has become my shadow, following me everywhere I go. He's still trying to figure out if my husband is his friend or not, but keeps getting more brave to him.
He is mastering the potty training when it comes to peeing, but still needs to figure out the rest of the deal. Rufus has turned out to be an amazing fetcher of balls and consistently been returning them right to me, even competing with my own pup. He gets along great with other dogs, playing with our neighbor dogs-they have 4 Cavalier King Charles girls.
Rufus loves affection and snuggles up to me whenever I'm sitting in a comfy chair. He is not at all treat motivated, but seems to thrive on getting pets and gentle reassurance. He went from being afraid to come out of his kennel to running around the house, curious about every single item and smell. He has mastered going up and down 2 steps so far!
He is a sweet, sweet boy and will fit in with any home that will truly love him...and he's very handsome!!
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
