History: Ray is a super handsome boy who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with his smile and happy personality. He has his paws crossed to find his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Allow me to introduce you to Ray!
Ray is a 7 year old breeder release mini poodle. He has made so many giant steps forward since joining my family.
Ray is a very skiddish dog that really tries to be brave as he works thru his fears of life outside of the puppy mill. He is what we call “a runner” so will have to be on a leash at all time when outside. He frightens easily by sudden loud noises and fast moving people. He is more comfortable around girls/women at this time but slowly warming up to men as we introduce him to them. I would say he would do best in a calm and quiet home with someone who is home a lot or is willing to take him with them. His favorite place is in your lap! Right now I am his go to person for safety and comfort. You will need to be okay with him following you everywhere and keeping you in his eye sight when he does get brave and ventures off to smell or look at something. He does not like to be left alone. He will go in his kennel but does cry when in there for a period of time. Our resident 60 pound female Labrador and him get along fine- they mostly ignore each other. Unsure of him and cats. Ray spent a week with a temporary foster mom and I was told he loved playing with and learned from another smaller dog she was watching.
Ray gets 2 one mile walks a day- one in the morning and one at night. He LOVES his walks! He also loves sitting outside with me when I’m working in my garden or sitting in a chair enjoying a book. We are working on potty training but it is slow going so he has a belly band on when in the house.
Ray is on a special diet of canned food at this time due to his nervous tummy and his teeth. When he goes in for his neuter he will also have most of his teeth pulled due to poor hygiene by previous owners.
Ray has had a rough start to his life but it is all sunshine and treats from here on!
Let us know if he is your forever dog! We would love to set up a meet and greet.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
