Rafe

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Mini Poodle & Bichon Frise Mix
Age: DOB: 08/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Rafe is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Hi I’m Rafe! I am a super sweet, happy and friendly mini bichon poodle mix. I am currently 8 pounds at 6 months old.

I really love toys and playing with all the other doggies here, but I can also be very calm and independent. When my foster family is busy, I am happy to just lay by their feet. In fact I really just want to be near you, even if it’s just in the same room.  My foster mom says I am her little shadow, because I love to follow her around everywhere she goes.

My foster family says I am a social butterfly! I love everyone I meet (including kids) and love to give kisses. I have never met cats, but my foster family says I don’t seem to have prey drive so would likely be good with them. My foster family says I am super smart, and will be a fast learner. I rarely bark and will come sit at your feet to get your attention.

Potty training has been going great! I am consistently going potty when taken outside in a fenced in yard. However, due to my young age, I still sometimes have accidents in the home. Also due to my young age, I will greatly benefit from a basic obedience course. In fact, this is required for all dogs younger than 2 years old.

Outside, I am very adventurous and busy exploring the world around me. There are so many new sights and sounds for me to take in! I am starting leash training and so far it has been going well.

Crate training has also been going well. As long as I can see you, I sleep through the night without a peep! I keep my crate neat and have no accidents in it!

Because I’m a poodle, I will require grooming every 4-8 weeks to keep my curly hair nice and fresh looking!

If you're looking for a total love bug who will entertain you and shower you with kisses, I'm your guy! I can’t wait to find my furever home and share my love with my new family!

Adoption Fee: Our adoption fees typically vary from $510-$1260 + tax. Our coordinator will be in touch with you with specific information during the application processing. For more information on where our animals come from, here is some additional information. Thank you!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
