History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!

A Note from the Foster: Princess Shortcake is an adorable Dachsund mix that is short and oh so sweet! She is really coming out of her shell and has been getting more comfortable every day. She stands by the door when she has to go potty, and does great in a crate overnight and when we leave the house. She is very curious and wants to be around her people. If you're looking for a walking buddy, Princess is your girl-but she also loves a good nap on the couch. She's not much of a cuddler but is very happy sleeping near you. 

Princess is great with our kids (9 and 7) but isn't very interested in our resident dogs. She has recently started to show interest in playing with them, but gets very protective around her food. Because of this, she would probably do best as the only dog in the home. Aside from that she is as sweet as can be and has been a joy around every human she's met! When she gets excited she gets the zoomies, which are even cuter on those little legs. Princess would make a great companion and is ready for her forever home!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
