History: Patty is a beautiful adult Dalmatian who arrived to rescue and needed a second chance at a good life. She is such a sweet girl who tries so hard to be brave and has been making great strides in her foster home. She is officially ready to start her journey in finding her forever home soon!
A note from the foster: Patty is a very sweet, very nervous girl. She has definitely come out of her shell quite a bit since she’s been here. She’s very timid meeting new people and will hide behind my legs if we’re out on a leash. It seems that she is more comfortable meeting people in a home setting and will just lay on the couch and let them pet her. Although she’s gotten a lot better, she is still nervous even around me if I move too quickly. She spends a lot of time either laying in her kennel or on the couch, but does sometimes follow me around if I’m moving around the house. She does seem to be more timid around men than women. Patty is also on an anxiety medication and has a calming collar. I do feel like those have been helping. She does great taking her meds in a pill pocket!
She did have an accident her very first day her, but has been doing great since then as long as I keep an eye on her to watch for her signs! She did stay with another foster while I was out of town, and they said she had a nervous accident when the male foster was trying to put a leash on her, but did just fine otherwise.
She stays in her kennel overnight and while I’m at work and does well in there. Her kennel is her safe space! She did bark the first couple nights, but would stop if I called out to her. I’m guessing she was just making sure she wasn’t alone, it might feel better if the kennel is in the same room as you. She’s generally pretty quiet now that she knows the routine, and I haven’t heard her bark in the last few weeks. She gets very excited when I get home or when I come to let her out of the kennel in the morning and will whine and give lots of tail wags!
She does well with my dogs and seems to be indifferent towards my cats. Since she’s such a nervous gal, I think she’d do best in a home without small children. Loud noises and fast movements just make her so scared. Once she warms up to you, she’s literally the sweetest dog and will cuddle on the couch with you all night! Patty is looking for a calm, quiet household that is able to work on helping her feel more confident and secure and who will give her lots of love!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
