Nova

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Pomeranian
Age: Est DOB: 12/2021
Weight: 9.8 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Nova is a beautiful pom who was recently returned to rescue due to no fault of her own when her owner was put into hospice. She loved Nova deeply and dearly! Nova is looking to find her forever home and will wriggle her way into any heart she meets!

A Note from the Foster: (Although my given name is Nova, my foster mom calls me Coco as I light up and respond well to this name.)

I am a very sweet and timid girl who is coming to love and ask for affection. I’m making steady progress while coming from a tough situation of originally being a breeder release, then the heartbreak of having to be surrendered after only a few months of being adopted. My foster mom, Bichon sister, and I are working on confidence and creating a calm and structured environment for me to best learn in. Housebreaking and potty training has been a bit of a challenge but consistency (and a lot of patience) is helping me to catch on! I don’t mind a kennel, and don’t fight going in, but do not keep it clean overnight. Stairs are a bit intimidating still, but with encouragement I will go up and down flights of stairs all by myself!! I get very excited for meals and treats and will put on a show for food!

I really love my daily walks, do well on a leash, and even get little spurts of runs and will become adventurous to sniff all the new and exciting things I can find. I’m also friendly and curious about the people we meet on our walks. I’m very chill and will let you handle me and put any type of coat, sweater, or harness you like on.

I literally run in circles as I’m not always sure what to do or how to "dog" in a home. My foster mom thinks another friendly and gentle dog could be helpful for me to learn the ropes. I’ve learned crinckle toys are awesome and balls are kinda fun to chase with my foster sister (or maybe I just like to chase her more, I don’t know). I really enjoy chews and Benebones and Himalayan yak chews have really helped my teeth. Oh, and I recently learned it's OK to jump up to a designated spot on the couch and snuggle with a blanket next to mom AND zoomies are fun!

Coco is a velcro dog, wants to be near her person but doesn't understand to follow and will bark when they move away, so you’ll have to help her understand how to follow. She’s learning more independence but will do best with someone who can be home with her most days. She is a darling little Coco Puff!

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
