History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!
A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Lyra! My foster family tells me I’m a very gentle, sweet, laid back girl. I’ve been learning about the good life lately of soft beds, getting lots of pets, comfy furniture, and treats. So far it’s pretty great! My favorite activities are sleeping, getting pets from my foster parents, and playing with my plush toys.
Don’t worry, I definitely will let you know when I want more pets by nudging my head into your hand or pawing gently at you. My foster family says I snore when I sleep, and that it’s actually pretty adorable. I love laying on the couch and taking a little rest. My crate has a really comfy bed in it and I like being in there. Sometimes I’ll even stay in there when the crate door is open because it’s so cozy and I’m relaxed.
I’ve met a lot of dogs and haven’t found one that I didn’t like so far. My foster family tells me I’m a really good girl because I haven’t had any accidents in the house.
I have osteoarthritis in my hips, but my foster parents assure me that my joint treats and fish oil will help me feel better. I was a Texas girl for a long time, so this Minnesota cold was a little shocking at first, but now I’m learning to enjoy sniffing and exploring in the snow! My foster parents tell me I’m really gentle on a leash and that I haven’t pulled at all. I can be a little shy around new people at first, but I’ll love you super quickly and give you lots of affection once I learn that you’re safe. I’m so excited to meet my new family!
Adoption Fee: $510 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
