History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Lainey! I love people so whether I know you or you’re new to me, I want to be your friend. I’ll love you forever if you play with me and if you aren’t playing with me, I’ll join you in whatever you’re doing!
I LOVE toys. I prefer to spread all the toys out so I know what my options are. I usually pick a squeaky toy, but you never know so it’s best to be sure. When I first got to my foster home, I was a super energetic, playful girl because I was so excited to have a home. Now, I still have my puppy energy, but I’m also adjusting to home life and I like to spend about half of my time napping in my crate or cuddling in bed with my foster mom.
I’m doing SUPER DUPER well with learning my big girl skills. I settle quickly in the crate and playpen because I have better things to do than sit and whine (like chew on my toys). When we go outside, I know exactly what to do and have very few accidents when on a schedule. My foster mom is so impressed with how smart I am and has had to come up with more tricks to teach me because of how quickly I learn! I already know how to sit, lay down, leave it, and am doing really well learning how to stay but sometimes my wiggly body doesn’t agree with my brain so we just say that it’s a work in progress. I also know some pretty cool party tricks like shake, high five, boop (touch with my nose), roll over, and spin! I’m very food-motivated which has made training a breeze!
I’m doing really well with learning how to share my treats and toys with the other dogs, but sometimes I need a reminder from foster mom what I’m supposed to do. Slow and monitored introductions to new animals would be best, but now I get along great with my foster family’s resident animals almost all of the time and know to walk away when the other dogs let me know they’re sick of my shenanigans.
I’m a super smart, playful girl who would love to be part of your family! I love hanging out with my foster family and making them laugh (sometimes I can be a bit clumsy and I make goofy faces when I’m playing with my toys). I learn super quickly and make a great walking buddy. I’m so excited to meet you and can’t wait to show you my favorite toys!
Adoption Fee: $750 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
