We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!
A Note from the Foster: Meet Hondo!
7 months old • 40 lbs • Neutered
Is he A Lab? A Pittie? A Corgi? A Terrier?
Yes. Probably. Maybe.
What is certain is that Hondo is 100% joy, wiggles, and happy puppy energy wrapped up in one adorable mystery package. Hondo is a playful, affectionate young guy who loves life. He plays very enthusiastically with our older dominant resident female dog and is always up for backyard zoomies, especially in our fenced yard where he can stretch those little legs. He’s getting impressive at fetch, enjoys long walks, and shows great potential to be a fantastic running partner someday. On leash, he’s still learning the ropes, but on a good trajectory. He’s food‑motivated (training win!) with a healthy appetite and zero food aggression.
House manners? Hondo appears to be potty trained as we do let him out frequently throughout the day and sleeps overnight (8-10 hours) in his kennel without a peep. He’s already rocking “sit” and continues to learn more every day. We are still working on no jumping and what are toys and what are not toys.
Kid‑approved, too! Hondo is wonderful with our two human girls (ages 6 and 11) and loves playing chase and tug‑of‑war. He’s truly a people dog, the kind who wants to know where you are always and would happily follow you room to room. Shower included… unless you close the door.
Hondo will thrive in a forever home that’s excited to keep teaching him how to be his very best doggie self. He’s smart, loving, eager, and wants to be oh-so-good.
Adoption Fee: $560 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
