History: Hilda is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi everyone, my name is Hilda and I have been in my foster home for a few months now. It took me awhile to figure out that I was safe and that these people were my friends. Now I am learning that whenever I’m around my people I get yummy snacks and soft pets and I get excited when they get home every day; my foster mom says I’m the cutest when I let my excitement out.
However, because of my past I am still unsure of new situations and sometimes mom can’t figure out why I will be happy one minute and the spook and run out of the room the next. She says she’s happy this moments are less and less but she knows I’m going to need a family that gives me time and understands that it will take awhile for me to trust them - after all it took me a couple months to trust her.
My ideal household will have another dog who can help show me the ropes. I tend to be more confident around other dogs. I also like small humans (children) because although they may be noisy they seem less intimidating and I like when they pet me with “general hands.” I do kennel at night and have been doing good going outside on a schedule (but mom watches me closely because I don’t know how to tell her when I need to go). I also really don’t like the cold weather so I might need a bit more encouragement to go out right now.
I am hoping I can find my family this holiday season. I may be nervous meeting you but I promise every time I trust a you a little more, it is such a special moment.
Adoption Fee: $560 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
