History: I am Astrid’s puppy and was born in rescue!
Momma Astrid arrived to rescue expecting a litter of puppies after landing herself at a rural impound in North Dakota. She arrived just in time to settle into her foster home before her pups came and they have all been doing well! They are now each officially ready to start their journeys in finding forever home of their own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Glimmer is a true sweetheart! She loves to snuggle and is pretty sure she’s still a lap dog (at 20+ pounds). She’ll play toys all day, and if she needs a little rest, she’ll bring them in your lap to chew on them. Speaking of chewing, she has always shown amazing bite inhibition with humans. Sometimes I’ll test it while she’s chewing a toy…it’s pretty near bulletproof.
Glimmer does well on a leash. So far she needs pretty minimal exercise (a half mile walk per day plus lots of running and playing around the house seems good). Glimmer doesn’t love the cold and snow, so she usually just goes potty outside (which she’s getting very good at) and then comes back into the warm house.
She’s been sleeping well in her crate but still needs a potty break somewhere in the middle of the night. We are also working on potty training during the day.
Glimmer has been working on some new tricks. She’s very good at “sit” and “stay” and is starting to learn “down” too! She is responsive and very smart, making training sessions super fun.
Glimmer does great with our resident dog and cat. She is very patient and respectful. She loves to play with them but gives them space when they ask for it. Unfortunately our resident dog is hit or miss in terms of allowing Glimmer in her personal bubble, but I do think Glimmer would thrive with another friendly, confident dog around.
Glimmer has met kids of all ages, and she’s been very gentle and patient with her toddler friends.
One little quirk about Glimmer is that she’s a bit sensitive. Even as a very young pup, when all her siblings got crazy and wrestled, she preferred to retreat into one of our laps and rest. Sometimes she gets nervous about new things or lots of commotion. She’ll get the shivers and then try to curl up in our laps. It’s very endearing, but we are focused on socializing her and trying to make sure that her new experiences are positive and successful. This will be something for her to keep working on in her new home.
Glimmer’s mama and siblings have all gone to a new home, and she is still patiently waiting. Perhaps people are scared off by those beautiful tiger stripes, but she is all pup! If you’re looking for a sweet, lovable, gentle, and silly companion, Glimmer’s your girl!
Adoption Fee: $760 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
