History: Gecko is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Gecko! I’m a 10 pound 4 month old mini poodle. While I can be shy at first, I warm up quickly and love to be held, snuggle & give kisses!
I really love playing with my fellow foster sibling puppy, and have recently discovered that playing with toys is super fun! Especially chasing after balls! In fact I like this new game that my foster family calls “fetch”. Even though I enjoy my doggy siblings, I would also enjoy being the only dog and soaking up ALL the love. When my foster family is busy, I am very good at entertaining myself and happy to just lay on there feet. In fact I really just want to be near you, even if it’s just in the same room.
My foster family says I am smart, and will likely be a fast learner! I know how to do stairs and am starting leash training.
Potty training has been going great! I am consistently going potty when taken outside in a fenced in yard. However, due to my young age, I still have accidents in the home. Also due to my young age, I will greatly benefit from a basic obedience course. In fact, this is required for all dogs younger than 2 years old.
Crate training has also been going well. As long as I can see you, I sleep through the night mostly without a peep! I keep my crate neat and have no accidents in it! However during the day, if I am crated and can’t see you or am left alone, I do bark - so shared walls might not be for me!
My foster family says I’m what they like to call a “Velcro dog”. I love to follow my foster family around the house and am always ready for snuggles! I love to give kisses on your hands and face and enjoy being snuggled. I love to crawl into your lap when I am sitting on the floor.
When I’m not waiting for snuggles or pets, I’m very adventurous and busy exploring the world around me. There’s so many new sights and sounds for me to take in! While sometimes I am a bit skittish and nervous about being picked up, my foster family says I am growing in confidence every day!
Because I’m a poodle, I will require grooming every 4-8 weeks to keep my curly hair nice and fresh looking!
I can’t wait to find my furever home and share my love with my new family! Could it be you?!
Adoption Fee: Our adoption fees typically vary from $510-$1260 + tax. Our coordinator will be in touch with you with specific information during the application processing. For more information on where our animals come from, here is some additional information. Thank you!
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
