Frankie

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: American Bully Mix
Age: Est DOB: 03/2021
Weight: 48 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Frankie was locally surrendered to rescue and is working hard on his confidence. He does best with another dog nearby and would love to meet you soon!

A Note from the Foster: Frankie is a very sweet boy. He is eager to please and will keep trying to figure things out until he does whatever is the right thing. We have been working on teaching him that purely existing is enough and the right thing. He will pace between his kennel, water bowls, and door to go outside over and over again looking for your direction on which one you want. He is kennel trained and is working on potty training. He does pretty well at keeping his kennel clean but the second he’s let out even while in the process of running outside he starts to go potty. We are actively working on ways to fix this. We’ve tried more frequent let outs, but it doesn’t matter the second he comes out of the kennel. The potty also comes out.  he doesn’t know how to alert us to his need to pee.

He absolutely LOVES toys! It’s initially how we got him to come out and spend time with us. He will grab a stuffed toy, preferably one that squeaks and he will run it to whatever his safe space is. At first it was his kennel, but now it has even become one of his human foster family members! He occasionally will tear apart of stuffed toy, so it’s best to not have those in the kennel with him. Typically, though he just carries them around and squeaks them.

He is fantastic with other dogs and cats. Frankie needs another dog in his home. One who is confident, doesn’t have anxiety, and won’t be bothered by his anxiety. This type of dog help him feel secure and provide a sense of calm. He is very good at dealing with all types of dogs, but it is necessary to have at least one dog in the home who is calm and confident.

Frankie is not yet trained when walking into new places he tends to zigzag or pancake crawl. I don’t have a super good way to explain this other than he gets super Duper low to the ground like a pancake, but somehow crawls at the same time. But if you change directions and start heading back to Home, he will plow full force ahead because he knows that he likes it there.

Initially upon meeting people, Frankie is nervous. He will get very low to the ground and we do a little sniff but scurry back to his safety whether it be his kennel space a Puppy pen or one of his foster humans. But he opens up pretty quickly. Once he realizes you like him and are kind to him. He will want to continue receiving love from you!

Frankie is the most beautiful boy and he keeps capturing hearts by his photos however, Frankie is unique boy with a specific need for his confidence building… which means he needs a family interested in him to really think about if they are a good fit for him and if he will be a good fit for them in return!

This Bio is going to keep changing as Frankie keeps learning and growing within his foster home. So please, if you’re enamored by him keep checking. I aim to keep the Bio as accurate as possible throughout his progress!

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
