History: Fiona is a beautiful girl who arrived to rescue under socialized and expecting puppies! Her puppies have all been adopted into wonderful homes (big thanks to their whelping family!) but Fiona needed extra time to work on her trust and confidence. A Note from the Foster: ✨ Meet Fiona! ✨
Fiona is a 3 ½-year-old Wheaten Terrier with a tender heart that’s slowly learning how wonderful life with humans can be. She hasn’t had the easiest start, but with the right family, she has the potential to truly shine. Think of her as a lump of coal waiting for love, patience, and time to transform into the sparkling diamond she was always meant to be.
Fiona is potty trained and doing great with her routines. She’s also a bit of an escape artist, so a secure yard and close supervision are a must to keep her safe.
This gentle girl loves nothing more than being outside, where she can feel the breeze, roll happily in the grass, and enjoy the simple pleasures of freedom. At home, Fiona does enjoy having a crate as her safe space, but she feels most comfortable when the door is left open so she can come and go as she pleases. She’s also discovered that she loves butt scritches — one of the fastest ways to earn her trust — and her heart melts when she’s told she’s beautiful. Compliments and gentle affection go a long way with this special girl.
She would do best in a calmer home with older children (if there are children in the home) who can respect her boundaries. She will thrive alongside a confident, friendly dog who can show her the ropes and help her continue to come out of her shell.
Fiona is currently taking Fluoxetine (an anxiety medication) to help her feel more comfortable as she continues to adjust to home life. Because she is still gaining confidence, she’ll also need a groomer experienced with fearful dogs who will go at her pace and make her feel safe during the process. Most importantly, her forever family should be dog savvy, able to read body language, and ideally homebodies, so she can enjoy plenty of companionship and stability.
Fiona isn’t the kind of dog who comes “ready-made,” but she is the kind who rewards patience and love tenfold. With consistency, kindness, and a family willing to walk beside her on her journey, Fiona will blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who makes her people proud every single day.

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
