History: I am a dog from the Out of the Cold Rescue Effort!
We recently were arrived back to rescue with over 400+ dogs and 20+ cats looking for a second chance after being surrendered to rescue. They are each going through their own individual journeys while in rescue- many needing extensive medical attention for orthopedic care, dentals, skin issues, etc. Other health concerns were goopy eyes, ear infections, mange, and in need of a good bath and grooming.
These deserving souls will get all the care they need and be ready to go home to your family soon!
The photos on the white couch are off when they arrived to rescue. Many will have already improved with any physical medical concerns going on as well as many having received a good bath (and some a groom) after the photos have been taken. Our foster families help us keep each dog’s profile as up to date as possible however if you are interested in learning more, please apply to adopt and once approved and connected to a foster family, they can send updated photos, bios, etc!
A note from the foster: Fawn is settling in quite nicely now that she is learning how to be an inside dog. After living her life on the streets she is not a fan of confinement. She does not do well in a kennel. She is super anxious (even on anti-anxiety meds) and soaks her kennel in drool and injures herself trying to get out. We finally abandoned the kennel and she has proven perfectly trustworthy loose in the house while we are away. She gets along swimmingly with our resident dog.
She is 100% potty trained. She sleeps through the night and doesn’t seems to need a bunch of exercise. She has not been around cats but I think she would learn quickly how to act around them. She enjoys routine so she can continue to learn what is expected of a pet. She spends her days lounging on dog beds and napping. She does like to chew a bone and chase a ball but is still learning how to play with toys, for now squeaky toys are quite scary. When living on her own she suffered a broken leg. Since she didn’t have anyone to care for her it didn’t heal correctly. She now has one leg that is shorter than the others. It does NOT slow her down one bit outside. She seems to lay off of it on the hard floors inside and prefers to sit or lay down rather than stand.
She’s a big, powerful girl who will do best with firm boundaries so she can continue to understand what being loved is all about. She really likes her belly rubbed but gets overly excited about it and tends to still use her mouth and paws. We are currently working on walking on a leash - it is quite to foreign concept. She recently had eyelid surgery and is spayed and ready for adoption!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
