History: I am a dog from the Out of the Cold Rescue Effort!
We recently were arrived back to rescue with over 400+ dogs and 20+ cats looking for a second chance after being surrendered to rescue. They are each going through their own individual journeys while in rescue- many needing extensive medical attention for orthopedic care, dentals, skin issues, etc. Other health concerns were goopy eyes, ear infections, mange, and in need of a good bath and grooming.
These deserving souls will get all the care they need and be ready to go hoe to your family soon!
The photos on the white couch are off when they arrived to rescue. Many will have already improved with any physical medical concerns going on as well as many having received a good bath (and some a groom) after the photos have been taken. Our foster families help us keep each dog’s profile as up to date as possible however if you are interested in learning more, please apply to adopt and once approved and connected to a foster family, they can send updated photos, bios, etc!
A note from the foster: Elowen is the sweetest girl! She loves pets, snuggles, and playing with her toys. She's a petite shepherd mix, roughly 12 months old, but she has the energy and silliness of a younger girl. She gets along well and plays with her foster family's 6 year-old son. She is happy to play with her toys on her own, but might really love to play with another dog as well. On walks she seems eager to meet other dogs, but minds well and shows no signs of aggression. She sleeps quietly all night in her crate in her foster mom's room. She also goes right into her crate and quiets down when it's time for her foster family to go somewhere. We don't know a lot about her past in North Dakota, but she most likely had the freedom to go to the bathroom wherever she wanted, so potty training is still in process. She will keep her kennel dry and does go potty outside right away in the morning. She is getting the hang of potty training. She's a very smart girl and knows basic commands and she will wait patiently as she gets her leash on to go out. Occasionally she picks up the odd sock laying around and will bring it right to you if you ask her. She's working on walking better on a leash and has a training session on 12/16 to work on her pulling. She's very excited about all the smells. Her foster family is sure her future family will love this sweetheart as much as we have!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsively more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
