History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!
A Note from the Foster:
-She would do great in a home with another dog. My dog isn't particularly playful, but they still get along great and having a confident dog has helped Ellie understand that the world isn't such a scary place.
-Ellie does like to lean/herd my dog, which she doesn't mind but obviously some might.
-She walks great on a leash and is ~90% potty trained. We had one accident her first night and another one today. Today I was in a meeting and not paying attention to her cues, so that was probably my fault. She is fantastic about going outside on a regular schedule.
-She's great on a leash - curious of her surroundings but friendly when people approach us. She does not pull or have to be coaxed anymore to keep it moving.
-She is very food motivated. A slow feeder is a must and she has been very easy to train with treats in hand. She has already learned "sit" and is working on "down" and "come".
-She sadly does not love her kennel so much anymore. She will settle in it and sleep in it when people are around, but kenneling her up and walking away results in puppy/separation tantrums. I've been staying nearby until she settles before walking away.
-She is cat friendly but still a curious puppy. My cat has no problem setting boundaries and she listens to them.
-She has been friendly with all adults. I'm confident that she'd be kid friendly, however, she is a little unaware of her size when she plays, so big kids or teenagers would probably be a better fit than littles.
-She is sometimes afraid of sudden movements/noises, but rebounds to her happy-go-lucky quickly and overall doesn't exhibit any concerning anxiety. I live near MSP and she does fine with freeway noise, plane noise, and the thunderstorm we had last week.
She is still very much a curious puppy that likes to wander and get into things, so should be under constant supervision (especially around shoes and countertops). She is overall a great pup that will make some family very happy to have her.
Adoption Fee: $760 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
