Eevee

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Age: Est DOB: 03/2023
Weight: 29 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes- needs another dog in the home
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We recently welcomed a group of adult Wheaten Terriers who were being released from a commercial breeding program after the program was selling out. It is a big feat for these and any future wheatens that would have been produced from this program.

The ones who came to CHDR are doing well in their foster homes but very shut down and timid yet. They will thrive with patient and confident adopters who are willing to put the time into growing a bond with their new dog as it may take some time to develop but these dogs are SO SO worth it. They are amazing souls who each deserve their forever home!

A Note from the Foster: Meet Eevee 💛

Eevee is a 3-year-old Wheaten Terrier with the sweetest soul and the gentlest spirit. She’s still learning that the world can be a safe, loving place, and every single day she grows a little braver. Watching her confidence blossom is truly something special.

Eevee will thrive with a patient, understanding adopter who can give her the time and love she needs to continue coming out of her shell. She’s almost fully potty trained, sleeps soundly through the night in her crate, and is making steady progress with new experiences—like getting her leash on (which can feel a little scary at first, but she loves being outside once she’s there!).

The outdoors is Eevee’s happy place. Whether she’s exploring the yard or simply enjoying a breeze through an open window, she’s happiest when she can sniff the world around her. And sniff she does—this curious girl wants to investigate everything!

Eevee currently lives with another calm, older dog and really enjoys having a canine friend to learn from. She also shares her foster home with two kids (ages 7 and 10) and does well with them.

While she’s still a bit shy with people, Eevee is making beautiful progress. She likes to stay close—just not too close yet—and is starting to show her affection in her own quiet ways: a curious sniff, a quick lick, maybe even accepting a gentle pet or two. With time, patience, and love, she’s going to be an incredibly loyal and loving companion.

If you’re someone who finds joy in helping a dog grow and gain confidence, Eevee might just be your perfect match 🐾

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
