Earl

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 10/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own!

Momma Chai arrived to rescue with her 5 adorable little kiddos and have been doing well in rescue. They are now officially ready to each find forever home of their very own!

A Note from the Foster: Earl is an adorable, confident puppy who steals hearts wherever he goes. He is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and settling into home life like a champ.

Earl began his current placement with another puppy pal and did great, but he’s now enjoying life as the solo pup in the house, happily soaking up all the attention. He’s a social, playful boy who adjusted quickly to a home with children and does wonderfully with both a 3- and 5-year-old, keeping up with their energy and loving every minute of the action. One of his favorite games is chasing the three-year-old around the kitchen and grabbing onto a diapered “butt,” very much like the classic Coppertone sunscreen image from years past!

Earl is very food-motivated and loves mealtime, which makes training a fun and positive experience. He already knows how to sit for treats and is working hard on potty training. He usually goes to the door to let you know he needs outside, though the occasional puppy accident still happens; he’s still learning.

A true velcro dog, Earl wants to be wherever his people are, right on your heels and always in the middle of the action. He loves belly scratches and attention, and outside he finds leaves endlessly fascinating, treating each one like a brand-new discovery.

Earl is full of confidence… until the vacuum comes out or the garbage can rolls down the driveway, which he finds a little suspicious. With reassurance and time, he’s learning that new sounds aren’t so scary after all.

At night, Earl sleeps well in his kennel but prefers to be near his people, whether that’s just outside the kennel or curled up on a nearby dog bed. He has a great balance of playful puppy energy and cozy nap time, along with a big personality that sometimes suggests he thinks he runs the show.

If you’re looking for a confident, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining puppy who will happily follow you through life, Earl might be your perfect match.

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
