History: Dexter is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Meet Dexter 🩵
Dexter or has his foster family endearingly calls him Dex or Dexy! He is an 11-month-old Bichon Frise who was recently rescued from a commercial breeding, and he’s already showing just how wonderful life as a beloved family dog can be.
Since arriving in his foster home, Dex has been doing so well and continues to gain confidence every day. He is a gentle, affectionate little guy who truly just wants to be wherever his people are. If you’re looking for a devoted companion and professional snuggle buddy, Dexter is your boy!
Dexter is currently living with another small breed dog and is doing great sharing his space. He has not yet been exposed to cats or children.
Because Dex spent the beginning of his life in a breeding environment, he is still learning some important “pet dog” skills. Potty training is a work in progress and will require a patient and understanding adopter. He currently wears belly bands in the house to help with accidents, but he is starting to show more interest in going outside and will continue to improve with consistency and routine.
Dexter is also learning that his kennel is a safe place to rest at night. While he would much prefer to curl up in bed with his people, he settles down nicely and continues to improve with practice. While he continues to improve its kennel training shared walls would not be advised as he does take a little bit to settle down on his kennel when his foster parents need to leave the house.
What Dex may lack in experience, he makes up for tenfold in love. He is incredibly sweet, gentle, and ready to bond deeply with a family who will give him the patience and kindness he deserves.
His foster family absolutely adores him, and we know his future family will too. 🩵

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
