Denali

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Male
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 12/2024
Weight: 33 lbs (underweight)
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: With the right cat, maybe
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Denali was returned to rescue recently due to no fault of his own when his adopter had a life change and could no longer offer Denali what they felt he deserves. He is settling back into rescue and doing well in his foster home as he waits patiently to find his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Introducing Denali: your next biggest fan!

Denali is a goofy, curious, and lovable lab mix with a PhD in Velcro Behavior. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to be your best friend, biggest fan, and your partner in all of the learning that comes along with canine adolescence, this is your guy!

Denali's specialties include:

Professional Foot Warmer: You cook? He supervises! Doing your makeup in the bathroom? He’d love to watch and learn! Denali loves to sit on your feet (or RIGHT behind them) whenever you are standing and doing something. If velcro dogs are your thing, it’s very endearing.

Oversized Cuddle Buddy: As long as he’s got a solid walk or play session in for the day, Denali has already learned how to settle down and enjoy your favorite show with you on the couch or close by on the floor.

The Next Curious George: Denali could be a detective in another life. If there’s a new sound or smell, he is THERE and ready to check if it’s edible or can be played with! And with those floppy ears, it’s too cute to watch him investigate new things.

Crate Rockstar: If you’ve ever crate trained a dog, you know what an accomplishment this is! Denali sleeps through the night in his crate without a peep, and can be quietly during the day while his foster mom works from home.

But a guy this handsome can’t be perfect: Denali is still working on potty training, although it’s been over a week since he had a pee accident in the house. With a strong schedule, he catches on quickly. Additionally, Denali is working on some separation anxiety. He can be safely crated when necessary, but it does cause him some emotional distress when he watches his human leave behind a closed door!

This beautiful boy is just getting his life started, and he’s a blank slate to become your next hiking companion, obedience class master, or all-around family dog.

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
