History: Dax is an A+ boy with a ton of love to offer. He is the definition of a “family dog” and doesn’t let his older years slow him down. He is full of life and personality and has a lot of love to offer a lucky home of his very own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hello Potential Family - I want to take a moment to tell you about myself to see if we might be a good fit for each other. I'm a gentleman who loves belly rubs and short walks. You'll need to be patient on the walks because I love to 'water' lots of trees and weeds and anything else that sticks up off the ground outside. Then I do a little skitch with my paws to leave my scent behind. It always makes my foster mom laugh. It's good to laugh.
I'm an A+ beggar if you have something that smells good. I'll give you my very best puppy-dog-eye stare. It will surely make you want to share.
I love to lay on the couch and relax or maybe even play with a toy for a little while. My foster mom says I'm an easy guy to have around. I don't need a kennel because I am respectful of the things in the home. Even though I 'water' lots of things outside, I have never 'watered' anything in my foster home.
When I came to rescue I had a mass that was growing on my lower jaw. The kind vet team removed it for me. In order to be sure they got all of the mass they had to take part of my lower jaw. It doesn't bother me or slow me down, although it does make my tongue fall out sometimes. I think it makes me look even more adorable. They sent the mass out for a biopsy and the results came in noting that it was benign AND that they removed all of the mass. We had a little celebration about that because benign means it's a noncancerous growth that doesn't spread to other parts of the body.
I also have a cataract with glaucoma in my left eye. The vet team suspects that I have lost the vision in this eye. Just like the other challenges life has thrown at me, I don't let it get me down and I definitely do not let it slow me down. I have some eye drops that have really helped me stay comfortable. I get one drop in my left eye every day. I am super good sport about it. So good in fact, that my foster mom can give me my drop all by herself. I'll need to continue to have these daily drops for the remainder of my life. It's a good thing I don't mind!
The last thing I need my potential family to know is that I have a little bit of arthritis in my joints, so I have been a little limpy. The vet team came to the rescue again and gave me a supplement to help with this.
My foster family says that I'm the perfect example of a good dog. I don't let things get me down, I go with the flow and just enjoy life. I may have a few gray whiskers, but my heart is golden and ready to love. Let's cuddle up and enjoy life together!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
