Dash

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Labrador Retriever & Great Pyrenees Mix
Age: Est DOB: 10/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: In Progress
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own!

A Note from the Foster: Dash is a sweet, attentive, smart boy looking for his forever family! He is picking up commands quickly. He knows his name, responds to "sit" and is learning "leave it" and "come". He's clearly motivated by praise and attention.

He came to us with a solid understanding of potty training. He sleeps through the night in his crate with no accidents and has only had one accident during the day and that was a response to being startled by our cat. He seems to like his crate and often chooses to nap in there with the door open. Sometimes he barks for a few minutes when he goes in at night, but settles quickly.

Dash has a really fun, playful side to him. He loves to run, chase leaves in the wind, and romp around the yard. He has also been wonderful on walks! Despite having no formal leash training yet, he naturally walks right alongside us without pulling. He's curious about his surroundings and occasionally gets startled by a loud vehicle or dog barking in the distance, but has not been reactive and settles back into the walk quickly.

He's been great with our kids (ages 5 and 7) as well as with other kids he's met. He is incredibly gentle and has never even given a playful puppy nip! He's still working on keeping all four paws on the floor when he's excited to see people--he just really likes people and wants to say hi!

Dash gets along wonderfully with our other foster puppy. They're learning how to communicate and play together and love snuggling up on the same dog bed. He would do well in a home with another dog, though he also seems content on his own. He has shown curiosity with our cats, but has never barked and was respectful when one of them set a boundary that he was getting a little too close. He has also observed our chickens through a fence and has always remained calm.

Dash is just really great, all around! He's gentle and playful and funny and would be so happy to find his family!

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
