Colton

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 12/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Colton needed a second chance at a good life and arrived to rescue with the help of Lightshine Rescue whose efforts are focused on a rural reservation in South Dakota where resources are low and now is hoping to find a lucky home of his very own soon!

Colton arrived to rescue and soon after broke with parvovirus however he is a fighter and has been recovering well and is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Colton is the sweetest little ball of energy you could meet! His fur is soft as can be and he has the cutest ears! His favorite thing to do is play, play, play! He loves toys of any kind, especially the ones with treats hidden inside. He loves food so will do anything for a treat! He is working hard at potty training and is starting to learn that if he goes by the door, we will let him out. He uses puppy pads in his kennel during the day and always keeps his crate clean. He sleeps in his kennel throughout the night. His favorite playmate is his Great Dane foster sister! They could play for hours! He also tries to play with the cats, but they aren’t a huge fan of playing with him.  He does great around kids and loves running around outside with them. All in all, he is the perfect playful puppy and would make a great family dog!

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
