History: Cali is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hello! I’m Cali, or as my foster mom calls me, Cali Muppet! They say I’m a poodle, but my foster mama thinks I may have something else mixed in because I’m tall like a beautiful runway model! Whatever my breed, I’m 100% good girl! I spent the first years of my life as a momma in a breeding facility. Now that I am out of there, I am quickly learning life can be really good!
As is typical with breeder release pups, I am a little shy as I continue to learn the ropes, but I am getting the hang of everything slowly! I have made HUGE progress since coming to rescue. I love to sleep in a puppy pile on the couch with my foster siblings, they are the comfiest! I also like to watch animals on TV! I am also learning from my foster siblings how to play with toys. I would do great in a home with another confident dog to continue to show me what it’s like to be a dog! Although I don’t like to be in the heart of the action, I do like to observe and be included in what is going on. I cry when I am left alone in a room. I want to be with my friends!
I am making progress on potty training, I’m a smart girl! I had a huge milestone recently; I learned how to use the stairs! I’m so very brave! Because I didn’t know how to go down the stairs, I had a hard time showing my foster mom I need to go potty. Now that I know how to use the stairs, I will sometimes go to the back door to show my foster mom I need to go potty, and I will also run to the door when she says it is potty time. Potty training is a work in progress as I still don’t know how to show her 100% of the time, but I will go potty on pads, and I will go potty if you put me on the outside. I know where I am supposed to go but sometimes, I forget! I am used to being kenneled during the workday for up to 8 hours and I don’t make a mess in my kennel. I don’t mind being in my kennel, I actually like it and will happily go to my kennel when foster mom says, “kennel up!”
I am great with dogs and cats, I enjoy friends! My best pal is actually a 120 pound great Dane/Saint Bernard! We snuggle all the time! Kids are fun too; however, I might be best with calm kids who understand my need for patience and slow movement.
I’m a great eater and enjoy treats, though they are still new to me and I don’t always know what to do with them. There are so many new things in this world to learn about, do you want to be my partner on all my future adventures? I’d sure love to meet you!
Adoption Fee: $560 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
