British

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Pitbull Terrier Mix
Age: Est DOB: 03/2022
Weight: 80 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly:  Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We recently welcomed a group of animals who needed help from various unfortunate situations in rural areas down south. Whether overcrowded shelters or unclaimed impounds, they have a second chance at finding their forever homes and hope to meet you soon!

A Note from the Foster: British is an 80 pound love bug. He is very happy to sit on the couch next to either of us with his head in my lap or just backed up against one of us. He loves to watch out the window during the day. He is a well mannered gentleman who waits to be told "okay" to begin eating and takes treats very gently from our hands. If one of us is already home so that he is out of the kennel he loves to run and greet the other when they get home. He also loves to greet guests. He is working on curbing his enthusiasm for guests, because he is a pretty big guy to smother someone with love. He occasionally jumps up, but is getting better and often "catches himself" in a bounce instead. He sleeps in a kennel at night and will sometimes put himself to bed in the kennel later in the evening. He also goes in the kennel when we are both working away from home.

He knows sit, stay, down, and off indoors, but can sometimes choose not to follow them. Outdoors he is a bundle of energy. He pulls very strongly and we are still working on ways to curb that. He also is very interested in hunting rabbits, and will suddenly lunge if he sees one. When he stayed with a temp foster who had a tall fenced in backyard he joyfully ran and pounced and frolicked in the yard.

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
