Brandy

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Brandy is available as a foster to adopt

Gender: Female
Breed: Chocolate Lab
Age: Est DOB: 10/2020
Weight: 72 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Seems to be
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Brandy is a stunning lab who arrived to rescue in need of help desperately. She had pyometra that required emergency surgery and then come to find out, was heartworm positive. She is undergoing her heartworm treatment and is available as a foster to adopt while she completes the treatment. She likes to watch our the windows and is very “lab-like” in many of what she does!

A Note from the Foster: Brandy has come such a long way since first coming to my home. She is learning that the world is not so scary. She is such a happy dog in nature, there is rarely a time that she is not wagging her tail but she can still be unsure of new things. Brandy loves people, and although she can be unsure at first, it does not take long at all for her to start full body tail wags and stealing a kiss or two. She does well with other dogs and has been pretty neutral. She has not shown any interest with playing yet but hoping that will come with time. Brandy is still getting used to a home environment, right now her favorite place to relax is her kennel. She has been showing more and more interest in exploring out of her kennel and coming into the main space of the house, she will follow me around and even wonder up the stairs, but if she wants to lay down, she will usually go back to her kennel and is still learning to find a place to relax in the main spot of the house. Brandy is about 90% potty trained so far, she does not have accidents with a good routine and frequent potty breaks outside, she does not have accidents in her kennel and she is still working on learning how to alert me when she has to go potty. Brandy does seem like a very trainable dog, right now I have been mostly focusing on teaching her basic house things and confidence building since it seems like she may have never been in a home before and many things were scary for her at first. She is food motivated so that will help her with continued training down the road too. Parts of her personality are starting to come out, she loves to chew on bones, she will come out in the living room, burry her head into the toy basket and fish out a bone and then carry it back to her room to chew on. Then five minutes later she will come back out to find another, until she has collected all of the bones in her room. She can be a goofball.

Brandy is also currently going through heartworm treatment, so at this time, she is looking for a foster to adopt home to help her through the rest of her treatment before she can be adopted. If you have any questions about Brandy, would like to meet her and learn more about her, please put in an adoption application! She will make any family very happy.

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
