Bertie

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Pug
Age: Est DOB: 02/2022
Weight: 23 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Bertie is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart. She is working on her trust and confidence and is hoping to find a patient family of her very own soon!

A Note from the Foster: Bertie is full of butt waggles and bouncy feet.  She’s very excited when you first come home but she is also shy when meeting new people.  She gets along great with my cavalier and two cats.  She has been doing really great on potty training and we’ve only had one accident this far.  She’s slightly chunky so we have her on a lighter diet to help her lose some weight.  She’s not a big eater despite her size.  She LOVES her crate and hangs out in there much of the day.  It’s definitely her safe space right now.  I take her to work everyday and she does great sitting on a blanket in the front seat.  She sleeps in her crate overnight but we’ve started leaving the door open for her to get to her kibble in her free time.  She has only barked when she heard another dog barking next door and when she wants to go potty.  She will sit on your lap if you put her there but she’s too shy to jump up on the couch right now.  Bertie would do great in a home with or without kids.  She will likely take a few months to get used to everyone but even in the two weeks we’ve had her she’s really grown.  She isn’t afraid of men more than women, she’s just a little jumpy right now.  She LOVES butt and head scratches.  She’s discovered a toy once or twice but isn’t into playing just yet.  She’s not treat motivated but she does love pepperoni.  She’s due to be spayed and have some dental extractions but otherwise seems healthy to me.  She likes exploring outside in my fenced yard and has done a good job walking on a leash.  We haven’t gone too far yet while she is still building up some stamina.  If you have a patient heart and a free hand for scratches….Bertie would be a great fit for you!

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
