Gender: Male
Breed: Pomeranian Mix
Age: DOB: 09/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!
History: Diagnosed as a puppy with a life-threatening congenital heart defect requiring specialized cardiovascular surgery at 5 months old. Surgery was considered a success. He requires a recheck with his cardiologist team at the University of Minnesota in May this year. He will need further monitoring throughout his life at intervals to be determined by this re check.
Severe head and neck and chest trauma one month later. Required extended critical care to recover from his injuries in a local Animal ICU center. Sustained a neck fracture which is being monitored as he heals. So far, he is doing very well and accepted his strict activity restrictions. He needs to be a calm quiet boy for another several weeks ( end of May). Pain medications have been stopped, and he is just on medication to help keep him calm.
A Note from the Foster: Meet Benjamin an 8-pound Pomeranian mix!
A certified sweet and spicy personality, he’s a full-time cuddle bug with a part-time career in dramatic performances.
Whether he’s sighing like he just paid rent or giving Oscar-worthy tantrums, this little guy knows how to make every moment about him.
His most prized possession? An emotional support stuffed broccoli that goes everywhere with him, because even drama kings need their comfort veggie.
True to the small dog stereotype of small body, big feelings he does bark when he see's other dogs to announce his presence.
Benjamin is still working on potty training.
Because he is still healing he is unable to be active right now, however once he is cleared to resume activities I can tell he will be playful with humans and will ready to show his fun playful personality.
Adoption Fee: Our adoption fees typically vary from $510-$1260 + tax. Our coordinator will be in touch with you with specific information during the application processing. For more information on where our animals come from, here is some additional information. Thank you!
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
