History: Barklett is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome who is working on his trust and confidence and hopes to find his forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Barklett the chihuahua came in to rescue covered in mats and stained fur, you can tell he has not been in a home and everything continues to be a learning experience for him. Despite this, he is so sweet and gentle. He sits throughout his baths and brushing so well-he looks and feels so much better already! He is a quiet guy with soulful eyes and a big smile. He enjoys sitting outside just taking it all in. Barklett loves affection, he’ll follow you around and plop over for belly rubs. He loves being by your side and burrowing in blankets on the couch, he’d make a great lapdog since he likes to be held as well.
He is curious and perks up around other dogs. He has even started to initiate play with them! Having another dog in the home to help show him the ropes will be super helpful.
He is curious of cats, and will try to sniff them, but redirects easily. Loud noises and fast motions overwhelm him and he would do best in a more lowkey home.
Barklett is a quick learner, he is doing excellent with potty training on a schedule, he likes to keep his kennel clean, and does well sleeping in there overnight. He will let you know when he needs to get let out in the morning.
He has made tremendous strides on leash training and really enjoys going for walks!
Barklett is so sweet, sensitive and loving. It will be so rewarding to watch him blossom as he gets more comfortable with his new lifestyle! He is showing us more of his spunky chihuahua personality each day
Adoption Fee: $760 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
