Angel

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Toy Poodle
Age: Est DOB: 08/2020
Weight: 12 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Older or No Children Ideal
House Trained: Doing great!

History and A Note From the Foster: Angel arrived to rescue from a breeding background. She was pregnant. She delivered her 2 pups and has been devoted to them unwaveringly. Angel has had her fair share of sadness prior to rescue but has an unwavering love for her 2 puppies! Angel was able to care for her puppies for 10 weeks before it was time for all of them to be separated for adoption.

Here is what you need to know:

Angel is a quiet angel. She was a protective momma, devoted to her pups, but overall, an easy keeper. She will go potty when put outside. She has not had an accident in a long time. However, routine and communication are key. She spent years as a mill momma...so having structure and positive reinforcement is crucial to setting her up for success. We are still working on leash training and cues. The staining on her leg is either from licking due to anxiety or from a razer burn from a hair cut.  We’ve seen it lessen a little bit with additional grooming but it might always be there.

Angel is still quite skittish around sudden movements and loud noises, therefore would do best in a quieter household. A household with young children would not be recommended.  Angel loves her foster dog siblings!  She likes to cuddle with them on their beds and runs around the backyard with them. A home with another dog would be recommended for her comfort and for her to continue to learn how to be a dog!

She is still learning how to trust humans; sometimes she wants to hang out and sometimes she doesn’t. When invited onto the bed/couch it takes her a little bit to relax. Although she hasn’t been comfortable sitting on laps she will reward you by setting her head on your leg to let you know she is comfortable with you.  Little by little we have seen her come out of her shell. When she first joined us on her foster journey, she always had those worried eyes and tucked tail.  But when she is relaxed you can tell in her eyes and we get a lot of tail wags now! Angel’s perfect forever home will have a lot of patience for her continued healing and a lot of love!

Adoption Fee: $560 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
