History: Zinnia has been in rescue for several months working on her confidence and trust building. She was so shut down when she arrived and has been doing well in her foster home with the help of her foster family and other dogs in the home. She is officially ready to start her journey in finding her forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi I am Zinnia! I spent the first years of my life living in a not-so-great situation. I do not like to talk about it and I don't want to see a doggy therapist at this time. I am very glad to be here now though even though I don't always show it. I want to trust my foster mom and I know she loves me and won't hurt me, but I have been hurt so much in the past and I am just scared and worried. I have opened up some since I have been here though. I used to not even want to look at my foster mom. I love coming up and saying hi to her and wagging my tail and talking about my day as she showers me with loving words. She calls me her pretty girl and tells me I am the best girl in the world. I love hearing those words from her. I will go up and lick her hands as a thank you, will take treats from her, and wag my tail at her and do spins. If she is laying still on the couch I will even come up and give her face a little lick. I just still get nervous if she moves too fast though. I also like to go up and sneak up on the couch if she is taking a nap and sleep next to her. I also see her petting my foster siblings and it looks like it would feel really nice, but I still don't know... I would do well with another dog in the home to continue to build my confidence. I learn from them and they have helped me to be more open. I have taught myself to do the stairs because of them! Some days I still get nervous and want to be by myself, other days I am more interested in being by everyone and being around others. I want to be the best pup and I want to be your best friend. It will just take me a little time to trust me. I promise I am worth it though! I hope you will give me a chance, because I want to give you a chance! I know I have so much love to give my foster mom and I know I could give it to you too.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
