Zenyatta

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Female
Breed: Labrador Retriever
Age: Est DOB: 11/2021
Weight: 57 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Most Likely
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own!

A Note from the Foster: Zenyatta may not have the long athletic looks of the racehorse she is named after, but boy – this girl has personality plus! If there was an award for “Dog of the Year” Zenyatta would be a real contender!

Zenyatta is filled from head-to-tail with happiness. Her round lab-y body wiggles all over anytime she sees you! Zenyatta has walked into her foster home and has been a wonderful house guest. She has had no accidents in the house and goes into her crate on command.

Currently, the only time she is in her crate is at night and when the humans leave the house. No shared walls for this lady though please – she will bark if she needs to go potty or if she thinks she’s missing out on something exciting. Zenyatta has been lovely to have hanging around during the days foster mom works from home. Most of all Zenyatta is loving all the blankies, beds, and attention that she's receiving (and don’t forget the treats!).

This sweet lady has been hanging out with her foster brothers ranging in size from 20-60 lbs and does great with them all! She is interested in the house cats, but not in a mean way – just curious. She is easy to redirect so we feel that with dog-savvy cats and monitored intros she could live with a kitty or two. One of Zenyatta’s cutest quirks is grabbing the nearest ball or chew toy when she is let out of her crate to show you how happy she is!

We have found that Zenyatta is a true lover of snuggles and literally thinks she is a lap dog. While she is excited and wiggly when it’s time to go outside or come out of the kennel, the majority of her time with us consisted of her chewing on a bone or snoring on the couch.

Zenyatta is a sweet ray of sunshine! She can’t wait to find her new family and shower (and snuggle) them with all her lab-y love.

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
