Wittle Steven

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Male
Breed: Italian Greyhound
Age: Est DOB: 02/2024
Weight: 7 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Yes

History: Wittle Steven is a super handsome boy who arrived to rescue in need of a back leg amputation :( He has been doing so well with this post-surgery and is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever family!

A Note from the Foster: Hi world!  My name is Wittle Stephen, but my foster family calls me “Wittles” or “little guy”.

I came to rescue with a severely broken leg and I was pretty shut down emotionally.  I didn’t want to come out of my kennel or interact very much.

Fast forward a few weeks and I’m a totally different dog!  The fantastic vet team at Coco’s Heart amputated that leg that was causing me so much pain and discomfort  and my foster family showered me with all the love and attention I needed (and deserved).

I have fully recovered from my surgery and I’m learning to navigate this world as a tripod.  I can do almost everything that a four legged dog can do.  Steps?  Not a problem.  Running?  Not a problem.  I can even climb out of my playpen (my foster mom doesn’t like that one so much).

I love to play with all of my foster siblings (big and small) and thoroughly enjoy my naps (I take a lot of them!).  If you have a lap, I’m happy to keep it warm and if you have food, I’m happy to share it with you 😂.  I’m as sweet and cute as they come - I mean, look at me!

What am I still working on?  I REALLY don’t like being kenneled so my foster momma only puts me in there in small spurts (with treats) to get me used to it.  I sleep with my foster parents (under the covers of course) and haven’t had any issues in that regard.  I’m still working on potty training, but I usually do my business outside.

Overall, my foster family says I’m a pretty easy guy to have around.  I’d probably do best in a family without small kiddos because I am a pretty fragile fella and I’d prefer another doggy to play with (I am still a puppy after all!).

Do I sound like your cup of tea?  If so, complete the application for me.  I hope to meet you real soon 🐶

Adoption Fee: Our adoption fees typically vary from $500-$1250 + tax. Our coordinator will be in touch with you with specific information during the application processing. For more information on where our animals come from, here is some additional information. Thank you!

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
