Walt

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Maltese
Age: Est DOB: 11/2017
Weight: 10 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: Walt is a super handsome boy who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with his smile and happy personality. He has his paws crossed to find his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Walt is a calm, gentle adult Maltese we’ve had the pleasure of fostering.  He just got a haircut because he arrived very dirty and matted.  See before and after pictures…We think the haircut helped him come out of his shell a bit. 😊.   He is mostly potty trained but does use the potty pad sometimes.

Here are a few things about Walt:

He walks very well on a leash.

He loves to greet other dogs and people.

He has his own corner of our house where he feels very safe.

He lets us hold him but does not come to us seeking attention (yet).

He seldom barks and sleeps through the night.

He likes his crate but prefers the door open.

He is learning to trust people and we see progress every day.

He is not treat oriented but eats up all of his dog food.

He would make a great companion for someone looking for a calm dog.

Adoption Fee: $500 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
