History: Vernon is an incredibly adorable senior fella who needed a second chance at a good life. He has been doing well in rescue and hopes to find his forever family soon!
A Note from the Foster: Vernon is a smart and sweet boy who was more than ready to put life as a male commercial breeder and fully embrace life as a well loved family dog.
Vernon has been in my care for almost a week, and has made amazing progress each and every day! He is a bit apprehensive with people, but warms up to them pretty quickly, if allowed to warm up on his own terms; patience is the key. He figured out my water fountains within a few hours in my home, and is going up and down stairs with ease.
Potty training is also progressing nicely, as he quickly figured out relieving outside or on a potty pad brings much jubilation and a high value treat.
Vernon sleeps in his crate next to my bed. He goes in without complaint and stays quiet, save the sound of his tail hitting the sides of the crate when he realizes I’m awake, until I say good morning Vernon and let him out of his crate. He has kept his crate clean since his arrival. Vernon is also starting to figure out that toys are fun. All of this is amazing progress for a sweet dog who spent the first 7 years confined in a small crate without human kindness.
As his foster, I am a witness to Vernon’s amazing transformation, and I am thrilled to see his true personality emerge. Vernon is more than ready to move on to his forever home where he will be cared for and loved as a member of his family!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
