History: We welcomed a group recently from a partnering organization of ours, Villalobos Animal Rescue. These kiddos are SO sweet, social, friendly, and already have a great start at basic obedience and mannerisms.
A Note from the Foster: Tiller is the best cuddler and such a wonderful and loving dog! He would be a great addition to any family!
Personality: This guy has a moderate energy level and loves chewing on his chew toys. He likes going for daily walks. In general, he is an extrovert that loves being in contact with people or other furballs. He's great with kids and is also very respectful and gets along with other pets. He does very well at not eating food or drinking out of a water bowl that doesn't belong to him. Tiller would do well as either a solo pup or with other dogs and cats and is happy to share his space. He is very quiet and rarely barks.Whether I’m working at my desk or on a zoom meeting, he will lay quietly underneath.
Activity Level: On a scale of 1-10, Tiller's activity level would be around 4-5. He loves to take long walks and does excellent on a leash. He would benefit from a family who is actively walking him at least 3 days a week or more. He is also ok with just hanging out in the yard and getting his activity needs there.
Kennel Habits: Tiller has absolutely zero kennel issues. Pointing in the direction of his kennel and saying "kennel" is all it takes for him to go directly into his safe space. He keeps his kennel clean and has had no accidents.
Bathroom Habits: Tiller is fully potty trained and will walk by the door when he needs to go outside. He has not had any accidents in the house.
Eating Habits: .Tiller isn't really food motivated. He has shown zero signs with food aggression and fully respects the food dishes of other pets in the house. If you put his food dish in front of him, he'll eat it but he's not actively looking for things to eat. He's been caught counter surfing once, but there was a big plate of bacon on the edge so he can't be blamed there.
Sleeping Habits: Tiller is a champion sleeper! He never whines about being in his kennel overnight and is happy to see you in the morning.
Training Habits: Tiller already knows "sit", "go potty", "kennel" and he comes to you when called.
Grooming: Tiller is a light shedder and could benefit from brushing a couple of times a week.
Areas of Improvement: Tiller likes to jump up and hug people. Literally standing on his hind legs and wrapping his arms around you. We are working on the "down" command at the present time.
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
