History: We received a local plea to help a litter of teenage English Labs and a senior girl named Tayla, from an outdoor living situation. They are social kiddos who do really well with other dogs. They are learning basic obedience, manners, and how to live in the home however they are extremely smart dogs who are learning very quickly. They are each hoping to find forever homes of their very own soon!
A Note from the Foster: Hi! My name is Tayla, and I am a 11-year-old, chocolate lab who came to rescue after being helped from an outdoor living situation. I know a lot of folks probably think a 14-year-old doesn't have a lot of life left but I beg to differ...the good life just began for me! I surprised my foster mom with how well I get around and these little legs of mine move fast! I love to go on walks which is a good thing because I've got some winter weight I've been wanting to get rid of (don't we all...!) I walk well on a leash and at times have even needed a reminder to slow down. I will let out a grumble if we pass another dog and if I see birds and squirrels I get really interested in what they are doing, but mom redirects me, and we resume our walk. I am able to jump up into her truck pretty easily, but may need a small boost at times, and some help getting down because it's a little too high for me. I travel really well and like looking out the window to see all the things!
I enjoy my kennel and am happy to go in and out of if during the day but am also very content to sleep just about anywhere, from the rug by the front door to the kitchen floor, even though there are blankets and a bed to choose from. I do sleep in my kennel at night and quite like having my own space. I think my most favorite thing to do is nap but when my foster mom is around my next favorite thing is to be right next to her, or in her lap. I don't quite fit but it sure has been fun trying! I LOVE attention and to be right next to people for all the pets, scratches and kisses, especially from females. I'm still a little unsure of males, but with slow movements and lots of sweet talk, it's getting better. I only potty outside and know that is where I need to be if I have to go.
I'm pretty quiet (aside from my snoring) and have only voiced my concern when my foster mom goes upstairs to work. I can do stairs, but they make me nervous so I'm choosing not to. I've barked a few times to tell her to have a good day and then I lay down right in front of the stairs to make sure no one else gets by me. When she comes back down, my whole body shakes and wiggles because I'm so happy to see her!
I truly am a happy girl and think I'd do best in a home without young dogs or kids, with someone who has the time to spend with me and show me what it feels like to finally have a family of my very own. So, if you love big brown eyes, a frosty face and all kinds of wiggly tail wags I'd love to meet you because I'm so looking forward to this next BEST chapter of my life!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
