Solana

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Female
Breed: Cavalier & Mini Poodle Mix
Age: Est DOB: 09/2023
Weight: 11 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
House Trained: Yes

History: Solana is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon!

A Note from the Foster: This little gal packs a lot of personality in a small package! She has the best tail wags that will let you know her mood, and wonderful floppy ears that turn inside out when she's been running around. She is smart, curious and funny - when she arrived at our house, it was clear that everything was brand new; stairs, people, toys, treats, chewies, dog beds, grass - but she has grown in leaps and bounds in just a couple of weeks. She has mastered small sets of stairs, but bigger staircases are still pretty overwhelming! She is learning about toys, and sometimes gets so excited about them that she just has to do some zoomies around the yard to get that energy out. Dog beds and blankets are a clear favorite, and she has quickly learned how to lounge in style. She spends most of her time in the same room with us, but does retreat to her kennel when she needs some alone time. She gets along great with our resident dog, and is not phased at all with his high energy. She hasn't met children yet, but we think that older children would be best for her, since she is still a little skittish with quick or surprise movements.

Solana continues to come out of her shell more and more each day, recently discovering that getting rubs and scratches is absolute heaven! She even spent some time napping on the couch and is learning that people aren't as scary as she first thought. She still doesn't love getting picked up, but tolerates it if you approach her slowly. She doesn't know how to walk on a leash yet, but given time, we're sure she can learn. She hasn't had an accident since coming to stay with us. She doesn't necessarily give any cues, but as long as you get her out on a regular cadence she will do great. She does well in her kennel when we are gone during the day and also overnight, and keeps her kennel clean.

She is the sweetest little thing and will make a great companion to someone who is willing to take it a little slow with her as she continues to come out of her shell and learn to trust people more and more. She has been a joy to have in our home.

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
