History: Slider is a handsome boy who arrived to rescue seeking a second chance at a good life. He is doing well in his foster home and hopes to find his forever family soon!
A Note from the Foster: Allow me to introduce you to Slider. He is a chocolate colored mini poodle who is about 7 years old. We have had him for a little over a month now and he is ready to find his forever home following his neuter and dental appointment.
Slider came to us from a puppy mill and is LOVING his life here in our house. He is potty trained when kept on a schedule and does stand by the door when he needs to go out. He will come find you then go back to the door also. He is starting to learn how to play with toys and occasionally will be caught carrying around a sock so proudly. He loves his meal times. Following them he usually gets the zoomies for a couple minutes. He is so happy with his new life!
Slider’s favorite place is sitting/laying on my lap. If you pet him that is even better. If you stop petting him he will gently place his paw on you asking you to continue. He loves being loved.
Slider sleeps well in his kennel during the day when we are gone at work and during the night. I am sure he would do well with the door left open. He will go in the kennel and take a nap on his own when we are home. His favorite place during the day to nap however is on a chair in the sun.
He is good on a leash. We take walks every day. The world is a very big, loud and fast paced new place for him so I have taken it slowly introducing it to him.
Slider warmed right up me me, his foster mom. We have college age daughters that he warmed up to right away when they were home. It has taken a bit of time for him to trust my husband. Understandable knowing where he came from. The elementary school aged children in our neighborhood have a bit too much energy for him right now. If I am holding him he does fine and will let them pet him. Our resident dog is a female 60 pound Labrador and they get along well.
Slider recently found his voice while looking at his reflection in the patio door the other night. Took all 3 of us by surprise when it came out! He does not use it very often.
Slider’s forever family will need to be patient with him while he learns his new owners and his place in his family. He is learning some boundaries in our house. No paws on the windows to look out. He can use the ottoman to sit on and look out. Small things like this. He is able to climb up and jump down 2-3 stairs. I have to carry him up them if I want him to come up with me right now. Little things like this will come quickly for him I’m sure!
If you are looking for an older dog Slider is your dog! He is a distinguished gentleman with a puppy attitude for a couple times a day!
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
