Scrat

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
Age: Est DOB: 02/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We welcomed a group recently from a partnering organization of ours, Villalobos Animal Rescue. These kiddos are SO sweet, social, friendly, and already have a great start at basic obedience and mannerisms.

A Note from the Foster: Hello everybody, I am so excited to meet you! My name is Scrat, sometimes my foster momma calls me Scrappy! Best guess, I was born towards the end of February 2025. I came to Coco's Heart from a partner rescue down south called Villalobos, with my 2 sisters Macra and Manna!

I am one determined and motivated little dude! I am to please and oh boy do I love treats! Oh my goodness they are just so delicious, and the better I listen the more I get! Yum, yum, yum!!!! I have learned very quickly that I need to go into my crate to have my meal time. Potty time is to be done on the potty pads inside or MOST preferably outside. I am catching on really quick when foster momma notices I am pacing and looking for a spot to go, she will ask if I need to go potty outside? If I wait and we go outside, I get a treat! FANTASTIC!

When I came to rescue I was still learning the basics about being a dog, but what a good life it can be! I really enjoy going on adventures! Rides in the car are a piece of cake, I jump in no problem at all, and really enjoy getting my leash and harness on to get ready to go! I get SO excited! I'm quickly catching on to the cue “sit”, because foster momma has found it's a good way to get me to control myself when she's trying to put my harness on or do other things. I love toys and chews of all kinds!

If you are looking for a new best friend, or someone to help you be a social butterfly, I'm your guy! I love to play, and I love to love just as hard! I have a goofy personality that I cannot wait for you to get to know! I got to participate in Coco's Kids Camp this year too, and oh my goodness KIDS, what fun!

Hope you come to see me soon! I like to go to A LOT of Coco's Heart adoption events! I'll be the handsome boy in the black tux, with the green “adopt me” collar giving you the goo-goo eyes and smiles!

Adoption Fee: $750 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
