Sahara

Adoption Status: Pending

Gender: Female
Breed: Terrier & Labrador Retriever Mix
Age: Est DOB: 02/2024
Weight: 51 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Kid Friendly: Yes
House Trained: Yes

History: We recently were asked to help a local group of mom, her older daughter, and 3 young puppies from a drug bust situation. They arrived to rescue covered in fleas and in desperate need of help. They have settled into foster homes and doing well! Flea-Free :)

A Note from the Foster: Sahara is so ready to join your family and brighten your day. This sweet girl has been a breeze of a foster dog, and is incredibly sweet. She is housetrained, good with other dogs, dog-savvy cats, and kids, including learning in just 2 days that she shouldn't jump on my 5 year old twins.

She knows "sit" and "come", and we are working on "stay" and "shake". She walks well on the leash unless she sees something she's really excited about and then she will pull a bit. She gets excited for walks and will bounce with excitement waiting to get her leash on. She sleeps well in her crate overnight, and in the morning her whole body wiggles with excited to get to see us and say good morning. She goes into her crate well at night and when we're going to be gone for a while.

She is very interested in shoes and other interesting things to chew on, so we crate her when we can't supervise, which she is ok with, though she would rather sleep on the couch while we're gone. She is a great cuddler! She barely sheds, and doesn't bark nearly as much as my resident dogs. She sometimes gets the zoomies, especially in the evening but will wear herself out after a minute or two (and if we've gone on a very long walk then generally she doesn't get them). She takes treats gently, and will be just the best addition to her next family.

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
