History: Rome is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon!

A Note from the Foster: 🌸 Meet Rome! 🌸

Say hello to Rome, a darling little Shih Tzu who’s learning what it means to be loved and cared for! When she first came into rescue, poor Rome was matted from head to toe — so much so that the only way to help her was a complete shave. But don’t worry, that hasn’t slowed her down one bit! Beneath that short coat is a happy girl discovering her inner sparkle and joy. ✨

After spending her life in the breeding cycle, everything is new to Rome. She’s finding the simple pleasures in life — a soft bed, regular meals, and the gentle touch of kind hands. Potty training is brand new to her, but she’s learning a little more each day. She absolutely loves being outdoors, where she can sniff around and enjoy some fresh air. While she’s not quite leash-trained yet, she has a blast exploring her foster family’s large fenced-in yard.

Rome also enjoys the company of other dogs and has a sweet, motherly nature — she’ll lovingly lick and “clean” her furry friends as if she’s caring for them. 🐾

This gentle girl will thrive in a patient home that understands she’s still discovering what it means to be a family dog. With time, love, and encouragement, Rome will continue to blossom into the joyful companion she was always meant to be. ❤️

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful!
