Ripp

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Heeler
Age: Est DOB: 01/2025
Weight: 34 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: No
Kid Friendly: No
House Trained: Yes

History: Ripp is a super handsome boy who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with his smile and happy personality. He has his paws crossed to find his forever home soon!

A Note from the Foster: Ripp is an incredibly sweet little guy who doesn’t understand the concept of personal space. When he wants cuddles, he comes in hot and buries his head in your neck or on your shoulders. He just loves being with his people. He doesn’t love being kenneled (he is a busy guy, after all!) but after a few minutes of whining he settles down and sleeps quietly all night. Whenever he gets over-excited, he does get a bit mouthy which can usually be redirected to a toy. And if I walk away from him he will sometimes gently go after my heels. Obviously these things are to be expected with a heeler! But he will need patience, redirection, and training from his adoptive family.

And speaking of training, Ripp is one super smart boy. And he’s very food motivated so he learns incredibly quickly. He knows “sit” and “kennel” reliably, and we are working on “stay” and “down”. He is also getting really good at fetch. I could definitely see him excelling as an agility dog! Because he loves to run and chase a ball, his ideal home would have a fenced in yard.

Ripp is very captivated by small animals. He loves walks, but gets a little overeager whenever he sees a squirrel or rabbit. And unfortunately, he also wants to chase my cats. His behavior around my cats has been steadily ramping up since I got him, so I think he will need to be in a home without cats.

He also loves to play with canine friends! He hasn’t shown any aggression towards dogs, only playful exuberance. He respects my 55 lb resident dog’s refusal to play. However, when my neighbor’s 25 lb poodle comes over, he tries to get her to play incessantly even when she growls and asserts herself. So I think he would do best in a home with a playful dog that is at least as big as he is.

Overall, Ripp is a fantastic little dude with a golden heart and a happy disposition. You won’t find a more loving guy. Come meet him and you’ll absolutely fall in love!

Adoption Fee: $510 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
