History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Texas. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!
A Note from the Foster: I am such a good boy!!!! I don't quite know how I got from just making it out of a Texas kill shelter to Minnesota - but I sure like it here! I really don't know why I was in that shelter; I had already been neutered, had pretty good manners and was super familiar with how houses, toys and leashed worked. I even had no problem being in a kennel for the most part (even though I'd rather not use them).
Since I've been in my Coco's foster home, I have been a super companion. I hardly leave my foster family's side and I've been very respectful of the cranky old resident dog and the other foster dogs that have come and gone. Inside, I can pretty much be a couch potato unless someone really wants to play - I'm super happy just having my stuffed animal to suck on and carry around. Outside I like just watching all the squirrels, rabbits and kids in the neighborhood - but I really don't like those Amazon delivery vans and would chase those if given the opportunity. I've never been around a cat since being in Minnesota, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be much of a problem. Since I'm short and stocky and kind of slow, the cat would definitely be in charge.
I've gotten along with all people and all but one really big male dog who though he could stand over me and be in charge - we had some words! I'm very gentle and pretty quiet for the most part, but my foster mom says I'm built like a low-rider Mack truck so it's a good thing I don't jump up much at all.
I love my foster family, but I would love to find a forever family of my own. I'd be the best buddy! I'll always be close by and I love riding in the car, going for walks and just hanging out while you read or watch tv. If you have kids, I'd love that too! I'll be at the Hudson 5K this Saturday from 8:30 to 1 if you'd like to meet me :)
Adoption Fee: $500 + tax
Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
