Raj

Adoption Status: Accepting Adoption Interest

Gender: Male
Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix
Age: Est DOB: 03/2025
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Likely due to young age
Kid Friendly: Likely due to young age
House Trained: Doing great!

History: We recently welcomed a group of deserving dogs who needed help from overcrowded rural shelters in Oklahoma. They are settling into their foster homes and doing well as they start their journey in finding their forever home soon!

Raj overcame distemper and is ready to share love with a forever family. While distemper can be serious, many dogs who recover go on to live long, healthy lives.

A Note from the Foster: Allow me to introduce myself ehmmmm.  My name is Raj.  I also go by Rajy, Rajster, Rajtastic, Rajarific & “Get out of there Raj!”.  Just kidding…kind of 😉.

My foster family says I’m a hoot and a goofball.  I guess that’s a good thing because they tend to laugh at my antics and clumsy puppy personality.  My foster mom calls me her crazy boy because I like to take flying leaps onto her lap when she’s not looking.  I usually follow it up with a nice big kiss.  It’s my love language man.  What’s better than a furry surprise smothering you with smooches?   Nothing…that’s what!

🛏️ I sleep in my kennel at night and when my foster family is out of the house, but I’ll also nap with you on your bed if you’re into that.

🚽 I’m working on potty training and it’s coming along nicely.  If I’m not in my kennel, I need to go out about every three hours or I may have an accident in the house.  I’m still young and learning, but I’m smart so I’ll get there.

🍱 I’m a good eater and not picky at all.  I do tend to eat really fast, so a slow feed bowl or food puzzle comes in very handy.

🐶 I’ve been around other dogs of all sizes without issue.  I love to play with the other dogs in my foster home!  I haven’t been around cats, so I don’t know if I like them or not 🐱

🦷 I am a Distemper survivor!  Unfortunately, the virus caused the enamel on my teeth to deteriorate.  That means I will require regular dental care to keep my chompers healthy.  My foster mom has been getting me used to teeth brushing and it’s not too bad!

👧 I’m good around kids (and anybody else that will love on me).  I’m a pretty friendly fella!

👀 I’m a Double Merle.  I can hear really well, but my sight isn’t 100% so I rely on my nose quite a bit.  That means that I do bark at unfamiliar smells or shadows sometimes.

What am I looking for in my forever home?  Well, I’m glad you asked!  I love being outside so a fenced in yard would be ideal.  I also enjoy a good walk, so if you’re looking for a hiking companion, I’m your guy!  I would be cool as a solo dog or with other dogs and…most importantly, I need a nice lap to snuggle on.

Adoption Fee: $760 + tax

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
