History: We received an urgent plea to help a momma dog with her 9 newborn pups in a rural impound where they were living on the cold concrete. They were able to secure a foster family and made it to rescue! They are officially ready to start their journey in finding forever homes of their very own soon!
A Note from the Foster: HI! My name is Poppy !! So far my life has been a little bit of a series of adventures - my 8 littermates and I were found out in the cold, and a Good Samaritan brought us to shelter. I have to admit - it was a little scary and cold but at least we were safe. Then there was a super long drive, and we ended up with my first foster mama. Boy, were we ever lucky. She did everything she could to make sure we were healthy, loved, and safe. I miss her - especially because I KNOW I was her favorite based on our long cuddle sessions and what she whispered to me. I got wet from her tears on my last day.
I am on another adventure now with 2 of my siblings in a new foster home. It took me a few days to decide that I could love this new foster mama too - and now she whispers sweet things like:
Poppy, you are perfect.
Poppy, you are SUCH a beautiful girl.
Poppy, ohhh you are too sweet.
Poppy, I promise I will find you a family that deserves you.
The other thing she will tell me is "GO GET WALKER" which is this BIG German shepherd that is a really super fun Babysitter.
I don't like to make foster mama mad so if she tells me a stern no - I don't do it again. Like - her fingers, toes and chin are NOT for biting despite they look like they should be. She also says we can only go in our designated potty spot inside our puppy pen - so that's the only place I go if I have to. She does take us out every 2 hrs to play /potty and I LOVE it. I was clearly born in the cold because I can tough it out longer than my siblings can.
But I am ready to stop wandering and put an end to my home adventures. I would love, love, love to find the family that will be mine for the rest of my life. I may take a day or two to warm up to you, but once I do - I promise my love for you will be forever.
(As of 12/5 Poppy is 11 weeks old and 19 lbs. Mama Willow is roughly 45 lbs so expect Poppy to be bigger than Mama).

Adoption Status: Is this dog available? Submitting an application is the best first step to learning if a dog is still available. There is a chance this dog could have a pending adoption when your application is submitted, however our team will offer approved applicants to be put on a waiting list for that dog. Additionally, we can make recommendations on other dogs that may be a match. Pending adoptions do not mean the adoption is finalized. Why did we implement this change? We implemented this update because, unfortunately, dogs were pending for applicants for several weeks and then the applicant would change their mind. This happens more often with puppies, as applications are submitted impulsivly more often for them. Our process is great because it takes a little time, so impulsive decisions fade. However it was unfortunate for the dogs, and the foster homes, as then the process needed to be re-started. By securing a wait-list we are able to move forward more quickly if a pending adoption falls through. This is a new process for us, so your feedback along the way is helpful! Thank you for supporting rescue and adoption!
